We're Screwed

The Republicans have allowed the House to drop Artic oil drilling:

House leaders late Wednesday abandoned an attempt to push through a hotly contested plan to open an Alaskan wildlife refuge to oil drilling, fearing it would jeopardize approval of a sweeping budget bill Thursday.
They also dropped from the budget document plans to allow states to authorize oil and gas drilling off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts — regions currently under a drilling moratorium.
WARNING: Rant Alert! Harsh language ahead! Young children and uptight adults should cover their ears while reading!

What the fuck are the Republicans thinking?! Have they gone mad?! The Democratic Party has reduced themselves to a bunch of loony extremeists, yet the Republicans, instead of sticking to the values they've professed since Reagan, are going to pick-up where they left off. ARRGGHH!!!

Damn, damn, damn!!! Are they determined to lose? This is going to shut sooo many people off to the party it's unreal! How the hell do they expect tp win elections when they screw the people who voted for them?!

As Michelle Malkin has already blogged, the conservatives who believe in a free-market are livid!

She has this follow-up with letter from readers to the GOP "leadership".

You can bitch-out House Speaker Hastert here, I plan to. If you do please post it to the comments section.

The betrayal was perpetrated by Members of the ""Republican Main Street Partnership."
Looks like George Soros has his hands in this.

POST SCRIPT:
Here is what I wrote to Mr. Hastert and my congressman:

Dear Mr. [Hastert/Diaz-Balart],

I am appalled at lack of conviction shown today by Republicans in the House concerning the retreat on ANWR oil drilling. The voters gave the GOP a majority in Congress and re-elected a Republican President because we believed you stood with our ideals.

We were wrong. I am led to believe by their actions today that the GOP members of the "Republican Main Street Partnership" care more about a $50,000 donation from George Soros than the beliefs and views of their constituents or the best interests of this country.

Our nation is currently fighting a war, both visible and invisible, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. As you probably already know, our enemies recieve funding indirectly from personal and professional sources connected with the Middle Eastern oil trade. Our nation is dependent on this oil, and therefore we are also indirectly funding our enemies that seek to defeat us.

I find this not only a betrayal of trust with the voters, but a betrayal of trust with our men and women of our armed forces, and the citizens they protect.

I hope you and your party can reverse this decision. If not, and this betrayal continues, I will be voting for another party in the coming elections.

Thank You,
Dan S.

On second thought, with the backlash this decision has wrought, a more appropriate title would be "They're Screwed".
