Communists and Democrats

For those who don't believe Democrats strive for Communism.

From the Communist Manifesto, 10 goals of a communist government:

1. Abolition of property in land and application of rents of land to public purposes. Democrats have started to accomplish this in cases such as the New London case.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. Democrats accomplished that quite a while ago.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance. Something that democrats support with the death tax.
4. Confiscation of the property of all immigrants and rebels. One of the few things I can’t think of an instance of.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and exclusive monopoly. Not quite there, but they are working on it.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state. We are getting there.
7. Extention of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing of cultivation of wastelands and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. Again a democratic goal.
8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture. Sound familiar?
9. Combination of agriculture and manufacturing industries; gradual abolation of the distinction between town and country, by more equal distribution of the population of the country. Another one they don’t push for.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Sounds to me like democrats have this one in place already.
