The Zarqawi Letter

I know I commented on it earlier, but the blogosphere is now passing around the letter that Zawahiri wrote to Zarqawi, which you can read here.

In order to put it in context CENTCOM has posted a commentary as to its meaning and significance.

Some other blogs have posted interpetations also, such as Powerline's:

Reading Zawahiri's letter is almost enough to make you feel sorry for him. He is like an old Bolshevik, wringing his hands over the murderous policies of his Stalinist progeny. Zawahiri was once a doctor, and is a relatively cultured and learned man. Zarqawi was a Jordanian street thug and is now a sadistic mass murderer. One can easily imagine how little effect Zawahiri's remorse will have on the bloodthirsty leader of the Iraqi "insurgency."
Austin Bay also comments.

DailyKos has this to say:

The Bush Administration yelled, "Soo-ee! Pig, pig, pig!" and the MSM ran to lap up this latest batch of slop in the trough. The Washington Post and The NY Times, have passed the cover story on like good little piggies, but failed to post the actual letters...or to even question the authenticity or timing of the release.

What's that smell?
They are even taking a poll of whether its readers think it's authentic.
The Democratic Undergound is ignoring the story.

It amazes me how people still find excuses not to take the threat of Islamic terrorism seriously these days.

Seriously though, I posted this to get your thoughts on the letter. What do you think?

Al-Qaeda is saying the letter is fake.

Of course we know A.Q. never lies, right?

Wrong. From chapter 18 of the "Manual of Death" captured in the UK:
1. At the beginning of the trial, once more the brothers must insist on proving that torture was inflicted on them by State Security [investigators] before the judge.

2. Complain [to the court] of mistreatment while in prison
